Perfecting Your Posts: The Guy Kawasaki Method

From the start to modern day, social media has become such an integral part of society. Among the most popular are Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter. Twitter alone has an average of "500 million posts per day which would be around 6,000 every second" according to Brandwatch.com. That is a very large amount of information being put out there; but how much thought is put into those millions of posts? Guy Kawasaki in "The Art of Social Media" breaks down steps in order to "perfect your posts." There are 2 points that I am going to share with you which are being valuable, and interesting/bold.

The first point is to be valuable. At first glance that might sound vague, but there are different forms that are given in order to achieve that interesting post. Information, analysis, assistance, and entertainment. My personal go to is the entertainment category. I enjoy telling stories and sharing events to may have more of dramatic tine to them in order to keep the audience captivated. This category still provides information to the readers but brings light to topics and stories they might not have otherwise heard.

Second, is to be interesting and bold. these 2 points flow together in they way that they promote expression of your thoughts. To be interesting you don't limit yourself to a finite number of topics or issues to discuss. Keep an open mind and don't shy away from the risks. That's where being bold comes into play. Talk about what matters to you and what issues affect you positively and maybe even if it isn't so positive. I appreciated Guy's take on it when he said "My theory is that if you're not pissing someone off on social media, you're not using it right." I take that as encouragement to be unique. Instead of too much about the reaction to your posts, focus on the content expressing who you are.

Until Next Time,
James
