End of the Road
When I first signed up for the class, it was just to get more credits and work towards a minor. I thought the class would be a breeze. In my mind, social media was a good tool to use in my field of study, but I assumed my knowledge of social media was advanced enough to where I could make it through this class without any problems. While that was not the case, I learned more than I ever thought I would about social media and how much goes into using it. I have three takeaways that I want to share from my experiences in this class.
First, I can't run from the numbers anymore. I have said this before, but I was never a huge fan of analytics when I first came to college. I did well in the classes I took, but it was never a joy of mine. However, from this class I learned that it is everywhere even in social media. The longer I try to get away from it the harder time I am going to have when I must use it; so why not embrace right? Second, find your voice and stay true to you. We talked a lot about this importance of a strong and unique brand voice. What voice is more unique than your own? Often, we see individuals hop on trends to gain quick and mimicking others instead of being their own voice. I should be happy with my own voice and continue to develop into using it positively for my brand. Lastly, social media is a very important tool. Many people do not give it the credit that it deserves. There is so much more to it than just the surface level and the more time devoted to understanding it, the more useful it can be as I move on to my professional career.
When I was in high school, I had always wanted to start a blog and share my thoughts and ideas with people. After this class, I'm not so sure I want that anymore. Finding content to talk about was a challenge in the later weeks. I realized I like talking more than writing so maybe I'll stick to YouTube. I'm not sure yet if I will continue to post or not. In the case that I do not, remember me. Not as a student who did this out of obligation; but one who did it out of obligation that later turned to enjoyment but then slightly shifted back to obligation.
Until Next Time...Maybe,
James
I love your three takeaways. These were very important topics we covered and stressed this semester so they are great topics to take out of this class. I'm with you with the blogs. I've always thought it was cool, but the content is so hard to find sometimes. If you do decided to continue blogging, I'll be sure to keep up with your blogs!
