Disney on the Rise
If you have not heard of Disney+ yet, here's what you should know. A little over a week ago, Nov. 12, Disney launched their new streaming service, like Netflix and Hulu. In that time, Disney+ has gathered over 10 million followers which compares to Hulu which has 28 million followers after over 10 years of being active. Netflix has 150 million subscribers after 10 years. During their first week, the streaming service crashed, and many users were not able to use it. It was later described as a coding issue that would be fixed soon. Disney offers this service for $7 per month while competitors like Netflix charge $5 more. I do wonder what will become of Netflix. I think the quality of the Netflix original movies are what keeps them so popular. Soon all content belonging to Disney will be pulled from other streaming services. Netflix just added older shows from Nickelodeon in what I believe are efforts to keep up with Disney+. I currently still have both services, but I wonder how much longer that will continue.
I have been waiting for Disney+ because it brings back many of the old shoes I grew up. Shows, movies, shorts, and other content from the "vault" has been brought back for our enjoyment. Not only Disney channel itself but Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar and the Star Wars franchises are all available because Disney now owns them. Just today before writing this blog I was sidetracked because I found an older movie I loved when I was a kid. I will be spending a lot of time taking a trip down memory lane.
Until Next Time,
James
My husband and I pre-ordered Disney+ a week before it was set to release because we were so excited for it! I'm a big Disney fan and I have been binge watching movies and shows like crazy! For all the movie content on there it's completely worth the $7 a month. They even have my favorite movie of all time on there, The Parent Trap (1961.)
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI think that Disney + is a great idea! I personally have not gotten a subscription but plan to in the future to see all of my favorite old shows! I think it is helpful for persons to educate the younger generations on how amazing Disney is and will continue to be.
Thanks for sharing,
Alyson
I haven't created a Disney+ account yet because I can't figure out how to access it on my TV, but trust me, the moment I do, I will have an account. I've heard nothing but good about it and I am also interested to see how Netflix does with this. I feel like Netflix has been canceling all of the best movies and series so I think it is going to bite them in the butt now that Disney+ came out.
ReplyDeleteI personally love Disney+. My sister and I are sharing an account and we gave everyone in my family a profile. Because of the variety and older shows and movies on the platform, I think Disney+ will continue to by very successful for a long time. Over Thanksgiving break, my family and I started watching the Marvel movies in order, thanks to Disney+.
